FAQ

  • Do you have a shop?
Yes! We are located at our permanent shop at 31A Derby Road, Douglas, just opposite The Bowling Green pub and next door to Sew What.
  • Who owns Q's Stores?
Q's Stores is owned and operated by British military veteran Barry (Baz) Quilliam, who has a wealth of knowledge and experience on military uniforms and equipment for over 30 years.
  • When are you open?
    Mon: Closed Tues-Fri: 10am-5pm Sat: 10am-4pm Sun: 10am-4pm
  • What condition/grade is your clothing and equipment?
Our clothing and equipment is either super grade (unissued) or grade 1 (issued), prices will reflect on the item's issue.
  • Can I order an item that you don't have in stock?
Yes, subject to us being able to obtain it from our suppliers.
  • Where do you get your kit from?
We purchase our kit direct from the Ministry of Defence, MoD contractors, wholesale military surplus suppliers, and we also buy direct from veterans, collectors, etc. We can also do part exchange against items you wish to purchase from us. NB: we purchase items privately and what we offer is based on age, condition and the saleability of an item; if we offer you our price, please don't say " it's selling for more on e-Bay", if it is listed at a high price it's not selling, otherwise it wouldn't still be listed...
  • How do you grade your items?
Regarding our grading of items that we sell; we endeavour to sell items that are in good used condition, all items are bought as seen. Brand new= straight out of the packaging. Super Grade = very good condition, but may show light signs of storage use. Grade 1 = issued, and having been so, can be showing signs of use, but otherwise in good overall condition. Grade 2 = may have repairs, plenty of use. Remember: it's military surplus, not Marksies... 😁
  • Do you sell knives?
No. Due to storage, age restrictions and the possibility of the misuse of bladed articles in public, we do not sell knives, we actively support the Police in helping to reduce knife crime.
  • What if I out grow my clothing, can I swap it for a bigger size?
No, you can part exchange against a larger size, but we won't swap it just because you've put a few pounds on.
  • Can I reserve an item that you have in stock in the shop?
Yes, but a 50% deposit is required. NB: if your item(s) are not collected within 30 days then you could forfeit your deposit and the item(s) reserved will be sold.
  • How can I pay?
Cash, cheque, debit or credit card (in person or by emailed invoice) and bank transfer are accepted.
  • Can I pay for my ordered item when it arrives?
No, due to us having to order your item in specifically, we do require that you pay for the item in advance at the time of ordering, by cash or debit/credit card.
  • Can I get a return or a refund?
We prefer, when possible, that you can try our clothing on ( unless you already know your NATO sizing) prior to purchasing as this saves returning items, but we will swap clothing if you find the fit is not correct and we have the sizing available. Unfortunately you can't return kit just because you've changed your mind. NB: items can only be returned within 14 days of purchase and if the replacement item(s) are not in stock then a store credit voucher will be given in lieu of cash.
  • Do you give discount?
We give discount to customers who have blue light, MOD90, Military discount or veteran cards. If you are a regular customer you can join our loyal customer card club (just ask when you're at the shop) and we also do discount on bulk orders. NB: We believe we give excellent value for money, and not everyone likes to ask and we want all our customers to have a positive experience.
  • Do you post off island?
Yes, costing will be dependent on your location and parcel weight.
  • What if my clothing, footwear or equipment breaks/tears or develops a fault etc whilst I'm using it in the field?
If we are satisfied that damage is due to a manufacturing fault we will replace the item (this applies to super grade items only and at our discretion) we will not replace items due to mishandling/accidents, deliberate damage or misuse.
  • Do you deliver locally?
Yes we can, delivery is free in the Douglas Onchan area with a minimum order cost of £10.00. Outside of Douglas/Onchan there is a £10.00 delivery fee, or we can post it to you at IOM Post Office rates.
